The Casino Floor Signage Upgrade Checklist
Most signage upgrade projects don't fail on the hardware — they fail on the planning. This checklist is the one we walk operators through before a single panel gets quoted, so the install goes in once, correctly, and keeps paying off for years.
1. Audit what's actually underperforming
- Which banks have had the same signage since install day, with no re-theme in over a year?
- Which progressive jackpots have signage that doesn't match their pulling power?
- Which entrances or zones get the least foot traffic, and could signage change that?
Be specific. "The whole floor needs refreshing" is a budget-buster of a brief. "These four banks near the north entrance haven't changed in two years" is a project.
2. Decide what needs to be digital vs. what doesn't
Not every sign needs to be an LED panel. Static wayfinding and fixed branding can often stay as-is. The signage worth digitising is anything tied to a jackpot, a promotion, a seasonal theme, or a new game launch — anywhere the content needs to change more than once a year.
3. Questions to ask any signage supplier
- What's the pixel pitch, and is it right for how close players actually stand?
- Can the content be updated by our own team, or does every change need a technician?
- What's the retrofit plan — does this require rebuilding the bank end, or fitting to the existing footprint?
- What's covered under warranty, and what's the expected panel lifespan?
- Is brightness auto-adjusting for ambient light, or fixed?
4. Budget for the creative, not just the hardware
The single biggest mistake operators make is spending the whole budget on panels and nothing on content. A premium display running the wrong graphics looks worse than the sign it replaced. Plan for at least one proper theme set at launch, plus a simple process for updating it in-house afterwards.
5. Sequence the rollout
Start with the highest-visibility, highest-traffic bank as a proof of concept. It's easier to get sign-off for the rest of the floor once there's a working example on-site rather than a rendering.
